Last December during yet another wave of COVID-19, Venn launched a new promotion in its in-app marketplace called “Everything to Your Door.” The campaign was designed to give neighbors discounts on home delivery items such as groceries or wine and beer with the caveat that they could choose to deliver to themselves or loved ones.

Oz Ganon, partnership development manager at Venn in Tel Aviv, got the idea from social media. During lockdown, he saw countless friends post about sharing gifts they received in the mail with friends and family. He thought “Everything to Your Door” would be a good way to get neighbors in the Venn community to do the same.

A Boost for Local Morale and Business

“Everyone was inside and a lot of people were testing positive, so we said, okay, it’s a great time to do this,” Ganon said. So he and his team identified local small businesses to partner with and created bundles of curated goods and services that could be ordered through the app and delivered to neighbors as care packages.

The result? A major boost in both neighborhood morale and local business during lockdown. Not only did Venn neighbors send care packages to each other, but they even requested that the packages be sent to their friends and family outside the Venn community.

In Tel Aviv, Neighbors can discover local vendors, artists, and businesses selling their goods and services on the Life at Venn app.

Neighborhood Services at the  Tap of a Button

In addition to working with partners in the greater community,  Venn’s in-app marketplace also facilitates neighbor-to-neighbor transactions. Ganon shares that the marketplace is how many of Venn’s neighbors got started selling their own goods and services.

“We will onboard you as a neighbor-to-neighbor service that we will highlight and promote, and we put a lot of effort into our Marketplace campaigns,” Ganon said.

Ready to get started? Here are some of local services you might find on the Life at Venn app:

Yoga & Pilates

Ganon shares that after seeing an increase in demand for wellness services, he and his colleagues tried to find a yoga or pilates instructor in the neighborhood. A resident who was still in training to become an instructor responded to the request and started offering classes to Venn neighbors at a local studio.

“When she started, she was a beginner but really quickly, she began to be a regular and on payroll [at the studio],” Ganon said. “And we were able to give her a real value and help her with her new job or new career, and it was great.”

Health and wellness services are some of the most popular items for purchase on the app.

Manicures

Nail care is another neighbor-to-neighbor service offered on the Venn app. Ganon helped onboard a nail stylist from the neighborhood who offers in-house services for her clients.

“We were the first place where she promoted herself. We did it really cheap and now she has tons of regulars,” Ganon shared. “Her prices have almost doubled since she started but people are still paying and that’s great to see.”

Hairdressing

There are also hairdressers in the Venn community in Tel Aviv who offer their services at a discounted rate to Venn neighbors. Ganon shares that one hairstylist in the community works with both men and women and can do in-house appointments.

“We have a lot of positive feedback and pictures on the app and pictures from tenants that use his service and were happy and got to be his regulars,” Ganon said.

Subscriptions to local coffee shops are another way the Venn marketplace facilitates buying local.

Coffee & Tea

Not all Marketplace finds are redeemable within the Venn community. Some are available at partners in the greater neighborhood, like local cafés. The Venn Marketplace will offer Venn residents deals and coupons to partnered establishments to help get neighbors interested.

Handyman and Cleaning Services

The Tel Aviv community has its own handyman in-building who offers his services through the marketplace, which Ganon says has been very popular. He’s also been able to partner with cleaning companies in the area to help Venn neighbors get deals.
