It’s Time to Redefine the Rental Model

Think about all the ways technology helps streamline our day-to-day lives. We can use apps to order groceries, use car services, pay bills, and even manage our homes.

But while online services have successfully disrupted nearly every industry, from transportation to insurance, one that’s lagging behind the curve is the rental model.

Many Aspects of Renting Are Outdated

When renters have to write paper checks and submit maintenance requests on clunky websites, it can sometimes feel like you’ve traveled back in time. Whether your landlord doesn’t allow digital payments or requires the use of a platform that takes a fee, many processes feel decidedly behind the times.

At Venn, you can download a single app that connects them with property managers, local businesses, and neighbors.

These issues were part of the impetus behind launching Venn — to bring landlords and tenants into the modern day, while making life more seamless and connected for everyone involved. The Life at Venn app lets renters easily pay rent, submit maintenance requests, and communicate with property management.

Not Just Making Things Easier for Renters, but Better

Now that more and more companies are going partially or fully remote, people can choose where to live based on factors outside of just proximity to their office. As a result, many renters and homebuyers are prioritizing living in communities and neighborhoods that align with their lifestyles.

Whether it’s walkability or being near their preferred local businesses, more people now have the opportunity to live where they feel like they truly belong — which, in turn, makes them more likely to stick around instead of ending their lease.

Fostering Connection and Community

While Venn’s app aims to make the payment and maintenance request processes easier between renters and landlords, it also does so much more. Venn’s neighborhood platform includes holistic offerings such as The Life at Venn app, Neighborhood Managers, Venn Events, and Venn Spaces

At Venn’s all-day cafe, General Irving, Neighbors gather to practice music on a fall evening.

Venn’s aim is to turn residents into neighbors through social networking tools that encourage making connections both virtually and in real life. Venn Hosts put on up to a dozen events a month, so people have plenty of opportunities to participate and find events that are convenient and accessible.

Venn Spaces act as an extension of your apartment, from coworking spaces to general stores to music practice rooms. Residents can also plan their own gatherings, from gallery openings and speaker talks to film screenings, fundraisers, volunteer opportunities and more.

Not only do these events bring people together, but they help locals get acquainted with the businesses around them, which helps keep them afloat — a win-win scenario if there ever was one.

Everything that Venn does disrupts the rental model. These days, apps are one of the only resources people have to regularly connect with others in a safe way, whether through social media, texting, video calls, or old-school phone chats. Venn has always aimed to encourage connection, both with those in your community and with the community itself. When it comes to your neighborhood, whether you’re a renter, landlord, or homeowner, you always want to feel like you belong.
